Marlin 1892 32 caliber magazine tube repair

New to the forum so this may have been addressed before. I have a Marlin 1892 in 32 centerfire. The rifle came without the magazine spring and the follower. I have purchased both of these from online sources. I have not installed them yet as the outside tube seems to be torn out at the bottom. It appears that originally there was a hole in the exterior tube that the pin on the follower went into. The hole appears to have been torn out. I believe I can repair the torn out tube but I can’t see how the pin on the follower will work if it’s locked in the hole in the outside tube. It appears that the inner follower will get pulled up past the loading gate if the pin is locked in the outer hole but once the outer tube is pushed back into the rifle, I assume the follower needs to stay up inside the tube based on the number of rounds that have been inserted into the tube. That would not be possible if the pin is locked in the hole in hole on the outer tube. If anyone has instructions on how this all works, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

Look in the diy gunsmith section here.
Akso Brownells Midwayusa have schematics for most guns to give you an idea.
Also youtube would be a good place to look.

Thanks for the places to research. Looks like I have run the guantlet and none of these reference suggestions have paid off. I can’t imagine I’m the only one thats had to deal with this problem so mabee someone will come up with a solution. Again, thanks for the info.

The normal parts drawings don’t really give a detailed view of the action of the pin in the follower with relation to the outer tube and the groove in the inner tube. It looks like I’m gonna have to go with a trial and error workover of the tube and see if I can come up with a solution. If I figure it out, I’ll post pics of the outer tube repair and the internal workings of the follower with the pin in it. I paid a premium for a box of 32 long colt cartridges so I’ll have some rounds to work with. Once I figure out the magazine tube issue, I’m seriously thinking of pulling the barrel and running a 32 S&W reamer into the barrel. They are readily available and cheap.

    Thanks for the help guys.
