Load data for Speer 158gr TMJ FN

    Hi

I was wondering if I could grab some load data for the Speer 158gr TMJ FN, I will be using it in the 1894C and I have blue dot and 2400 powders. I hate to go out and grab another loading manual for just 1 bullet (I have 4 loading manuals already).

I have also heard that in the speer manual they list the GDHP, JSP and TMJ as the same load data for the specific bullet weight is this true?

Do they have different load data for the 357 rifle and the 357 pistol like the Lyman book does.

    Thanks in advance

    Del

Try sending an e-mal to the powder manufacturers or Speer if you can't get an answer here.

As long you start with "starting loads" and work up, standard 158-grain data should serve you well. All bullets of that weight, regardless of brand, will be slightly different when it comes to bearing surface, hardness, jacket thickness and so on. Only by testing a given load in your gun will you be able to determine where the top-end load is.

Loads for rifle and pistol are different because powders that work well in rifles may not work as well in pistols. Different burning rates affect pressure curves, and what works well in a long barrel may give lousy results in a short barrel. But if a gun is marked ".357 Magnum", it's safe to use any sane load in it, whether it's a rifle or a pistol.
