    Skypilot,

Welcome to the site. It's a good place to pull a crate up to the cracker barrel and set a spell.

    The prayer forum is great.

You can also try the crosswire project. They have versions for the Mac, PC, Linux, handhelds and a java crossplatform one.

The Windows one is called "The Sword Project", and other versions have varying names.

This is an open source project so its free for everyone.

I like this one. You get free download of KJV with Strongs dictionary. Free devotionals and comentaries. Free maps. Pay small fee for other versions and other study helps. Easy to use, one click and your there. Works fine with Vista.

    Re: Online Bible

    Happy Lord's Day folks.

I've been following this thread off and on for a while now. I just thought I'd post an update. I am an elder at my church and occasionally preach a sermon. It's a Bible church so these sermons are about 35-55 minutes in length. I also teach Bible study. I have several electronic Bibles and the free version I use the most is still the Online Bible:

    http://www.onlinebible.net/

But the one I use almost exclusively now is also somewhat expensive, about what you would pay for a good rifle (makes sense since it IS the sword of the Spirit ). It is Logos 4.

It's hard to describe everything it does, but here is a YouTube video overview.

They have a lot of different packages, but for my needs I got the Scholar package, mostly because I wanted the original languages support also. If you want a really powerful Bible study tool that many reputable Seminaries have switched to, you may want to consider this.

    Re: Online Bible

Thank you all for the referenced links. The software that I use most is from Laridian (www.laridian.com) called PocketBible. It started out as bible software for the PDAs, but it's available for PCs now. It's not free, but the cost is very reasonable. It has great look-up and notation capabilities. You can get just about any translation that there is, along with dictionaries, maps, etc. it's worth looking at. I agree with what shockeere said, this is a very encouraging thread.

I have been using Biblegateway.com for quite awhile now and really like it. It is simple to use and offers just about all the translations available today. Also check out this site: www.heartofthebible.com
