Rainy day project and gun porn.

Got around to cleaning up the 1893/36 I picked up last weekend. I did shoot it briefly on Monday to check for cycling, not accuracy. Functioned well so tore it down last night and had to polish the crud off of every internal part. I didn't want to refinish the stock, I like the old fillers and the dings that add character to this piece, but I did wipe the wood down with alcohol to remove some of the grime and finished it up with Murphy's Oil Soap. The minimal effort revealed a right pretty piece of wood. The tear down revealed correct serial numbers on inside upper tang as well as the butt plate. Couldn't find a # on the stock so they may have been replaced at some time. The bore cleaned up nicely and maybe I will get a chance to shoot this week, weather permitting. I can always use an extra 30-30! The first pic shows the stock before cleaning.....Enjoy the porn.

    Thanks for the kudos.
The serial # dates the 1893 receiver, to first year of mfg, 1893. I found out a lot of these were re-barreled later in life. This one wears a Model 36 barrel. Not worth much, in fact I could part it out for a lot more than I have in it, but it's growing on me. Course I do have a few that the Marbles tang sight would work on.
