    Marlin 39A Homemade stock

Posting a pick of my trio of .22s. The top one has a curly maple stock made by my grandfather. He made a similar stock for a 336 also.IMG_0355.JPG

Very nice work by your grandfather. That's a priceless heirloom to be kept in the family for a long time.

What talent. I scratch build black powder and am here to tell you that stocking up that 39a was really difficult, and he did an A+ job. I would not even begin to attempt that project.

Wow! That's some fine work right there; I'm personally lucky to get a Ramline stock fitted!

Thank you for the kind words. If I can get some pics of the 336 I will post them. The 336 has a minor flaw in the buttstock. When he was carving it he did not know there was knot in the wood until too late. So there is a brown spot near the butt. He also did a Remington 760 but he sold that one off. I believe he made 3 stock sets from one block of wood.
