    marlin lever

so i bought this marlin lever action for $100 bucks decided to redo the blueing and serial number starts with c 2070 the letter c is smaller then the numbers so i take its not capital c and as i took of the butt stock found a letter Q stamped in it as well its says its a model 36 rc —-30/30——a wondering if anyone has any idea if its 1945/46 and what the letter Q would mean

Hey Moose - welcome to MO and greetings from Ohio. I am of no help in answering your questions. However, hang on: MO'ers are a knowledge (except me) and helpful bunch of folks - someone should be along soon who can help . . .

Small c is 1946... Marlin never used a Q or an O in their serial numbers... Might just be an assembly stamp... They were Model 36 through 1948 and then went to Model 336...

My advise it do not mess with serial numbers in any fashion.

Yep! Small c means it was built in 1946. As for the stock, pictures would help us tell you what you have.

If it has a C and a square bolt, it was built in 1946. If it has a round bolt, it is a 336 and you're misreading the C.
