    I mounted a Nikon "Inline 3 to 9" muzzle loader scope on my #1 45/70. 5" of eye relief at all power settings. I do appreciate the longer eye relief when I load "#1 only" loads.

    No shame in going to glass when your eye sight makes it necessary.
    I did it several years ago across the board when I got bi-focals.
    A 2-7 or 1-5X is a fine choice for woods hunting and even longer shots.
