I don't know why Harley ever got rid of the Bendix Carbs. My '72 XLH Sportster would start flawlessly. Actually, with riding with a large group, that Carb make the bike almost overheat, lol. After stopping for our periodic rests, I would end up waiting and waiting till everyone else got their brand X's going. I later ended up trading a truck for a '74 XLCH (Kick Start), but with the same Bendix Carb. No problem once again. Once I set the choke and gave it a little gas, that thing would start with one kick.

Year, both my Sportster's had that famous 2.2 Gallon Tank. Two Gallons of Fuel and .2 for Reserve.

On a long trip we would stop at every other gas station, lol.

We were also careful not to fill it too close to full to boot.

I bought my 2001 883C new back in 2000 and still own it.I have been wantin to install a kick starter on it since I got it.All my bikes had the good ole kick and this was my first without it and I always feel awkward with out it.This got me thinkin to reinvestigate it.I,m thinkin Baker drivetrain offered it.
