My son took my deer home to butcher. He just sent me this photo of the exit wound of the 450. I was using Hornady 250gr FTX. It blew up the spine when it went through.

    mac66,

    Looks good.

I've only shot 2 so far with the 458. Haven't cut one yet to see how it performs, the next one I will.

After a lot of thought and some calibers that really looked good like the 350 Legend I decided on the 450 BM. Reasoning being all the others were closer to 223 for use and performance. While that reasoning my be way off the other factor is I have my 45/70 for sale and I won a drawing with a choice of uppers other than 308 pretty much. Even with the high cost of the brass other factors even it up for me.

Took this 7 point Missouri buck yesterday morning ( 16 inch 350 legend AR) at about 110 yards. He stopped with his front shoulder behind some trees so my shot choice was limited. I dont like to gut shoot so I took the spine shot. Dropped in its tracks. once I got about 20 yards I saw it was still alive though unable to get up but moving its head so I sent a shot through the neck and ended it humanely. Both 180 grain Wichester powerpoints exited. Extremely happy with the accuracy and performance. and recoil is about the same as my 5.56 AR.

I took this 4.5 year old doe last night (dusk) with my 350 Legend AR upper (16" bbl w/2-7x Leupold) at about 65 yards using Federal 180gr Power Points. She was facing me so I aimed for the center of her chest. She must of have turned and lowered her head as I fired as I hit her in the neck just above the right shoulder. She dropped immediately. I caught her spine and she was DRT. So that's one kill for the 450BM and one for the 350L. Both worked well. While I didn't feel the recoil on the 450 when I shot my first deer it was brutal to sight in. The 350L has a very mild recoil, like a 223. It is a pleasure to shoot.

Heck Yeah!!! I'm kinda partial to neck shots anyway

    Very nice, very very nice.

It's good to see a clean kill with the 350. I understand the recoil of the 450, I do not own a 450, but I have a lot of ammo through my 458 getting it to function properly, and it surely does pack a punch. I put a bolt on limbsaver pad on mine. Sure, it was $40..... but man it was $40 WELL SPENT!!!

Now I have one... Finally had some luck, and had the 458 Socom. I will let the pic's speak. I found it very interesting that NEITHER round, in either deer, exited the neck(s).

That first pic looks like the barrel on an A1 Abrams.
