93 Jams up when turned upside down and attempt to open bolt

I am looking at a Marlin 93 (1935 Manufacture Date) in .30-30 and when I turned it upside down and attempted to work the lever to look at the serial number it totally locked up.... can anyone tell me why??

The locking bolt probably fell back down into the groove on the bolt... Hold it right side up and give it a good smack on the top of the receiver with your palm...

This.. they don't really like being cycled at funky or odd angles, slowly, especially upside down and empty.
