anniversary of being walked out of my office

This week marks one year since my two supervisors came into my office accompanied by a security guard and had me walked out telling me "it was time for a change". I had been with the company for 18 years and it was devastating. I was never allowed back into the office, even to pack my things which were shipped to me. I was lucky. In about one month I was able to get a similar job but at about half my salary. I'm 57 and there is no way I'll ever make it back to where I was. I know I'm definitely one of the lucky ones because I'm working..but man, it still hurts.

I can’t like that one, that just stinks. The bad thing is they probably realized their mistake after letting you go, but we’re too stubborn to ask you back.

Least they gave you the dignity of either walking or being carried.

The company my wife worked for years ago would do that to anyone let go (I believe if you put in your resignation also). Didn't want to give anyone the chance to do anything on the corporate computer to exact revenge or cause problems! Keep your head up and don't look back!

That type thing is nearly always caused by some over paid diva in a suit fresh off of executive training. Stories like this make me glad I worked for the Feds in an "essential" job that was hard to get fired from. I was able to make it to early retirement, and I was the one who told THEM to shove it! If I would have stayed another year, I would have strangled some idiot. Glad to see you have a good attitude after getting burned like that.

I'm curious, what happened to make them fire you? The story seems a little incomplete.

It'll be ten years this June that I got s-canned for standing up to a manipulative new boss.
Tore me up for years afterwards.
I'm far less naive about people now.
    Good luck to you!

A woman is raped, someone asks her what she did to cause the man to rape her.

    Hardly a parallel.
The story (in fact) remains incomplete.

    WRONG
Just because it doesn't contain details that are not relevant to the story being told and are nobody's damn business but his own, does not make it incomplete.
