Identifying New York And Kentucky Marlins

To be a REAL MARLIN from North Haven it has to have the JM proof mark on the LEFT side of the barrel. The other two companies are NOT using the JM proof mark. They are using their own proof marks and putting it on the RIGHT side of the barrel.

Ain't that something. More tradition and history lost. It is a shame that the man that started Marlin won't even have his initials on them anymore.

    Way to go Remlin.

Yep George , But I sure DONT want my friends JM marks on anything that weren't built in the house that Big John his-self built.

I figure Marlin will get sucked dry soon anyways and we wont have to worry about it long .

I won't have to worry about it anyhow. Any Marlins hanging on my wall will be REAL MARLINS and will have JM proudly stamped on the left side of the barrel just like all the others I have do.

Marlin is dead to me. Killed off by greed and the lust for pennies.

Interesting. My SBL is stamped "New Haven" but there is no "JM" proof mark anywhere. Is it possible that when it was sent back for all the quality issues, and the barrel was replaced, that is just wasn't re-proofed. No biggie to me either way as "I" know where it came from but I was curious.

I missed something along the way. "The other two companies are NOT using" I gather Remington is one company - who would be the other company?
