I don't think you have to worry. From what i was told today on my visit to the factory Remington has only produced 36's for the last four months. There should be no Remington 95 SBL's out there.

I know I'm going to be mighty curious to see what's left in the catalog next year.

If there's a 2011 Marlin catalog. Sorry, I meant the 2011 Remington lever action catalog.

Re: Identifying New York And Kentucky Marlins

I bought an 1894 Cowboy .357/38spec. in late Oct. from a distributor online. It seemed like about the last one available at all, anywhere. So I was thinking it was one of the last ones from North Haven. It has the 91XXX... ser.# thought to have been 2009, but it sounds like it includes 2010 manufacture also. But it also has the REP proof mark on the R. side of the octagon barrel, so now I'm thinking it's made in NY. Maybe bobbytjr can help answer that one.
Anyways....overall, I'm very happy with this rifle. The wood looks pretty decent, and the fit is good. The trigger pull was pretty darn good out of the box, and with a little work was very easy for me to make it a very nice light and crisp pull with no creep. I smoothed up the action, and it cycles and feeds 38 spec. and .357s beautifully.
It took a lot of time and testing with a lot of different bullets and powders and loads, but I finally have it shooting one hole 5 shot groups at 25yds. I could nitpick about some very minor insignificant flaws, but I could do that about virtually any gun.
    Scott.
Here is a picture of it.
P.S. It has the bullseye, you just can't see it in this picture.

OK, I just got off the phone with Marlin. My rifle with 91XXXXXX ser.# was one of the last ones made at the North Haven plant, in Sept. 2010. It has the REP proof mark on the R. side of the octagon barrel. So, some of the last so called real Marlins do have the REP proof mark, and the 91 ser. # do go into 2010.
Mine is not a NY gun. Scott.

We were making receivers in North Haven and sending them to New York. The gun was assembled and testfired in New York. Only the receiver was made in North Haven. Now everything is made in New York.

    It's a halfbreed.
