Question Should You Get the New Shingles Vaccine?

If you’re over 65, chances are you’ve already been vaccinated against shingles–or maybe you haven’t quite gotten around to it. Either way, here’s some pretty important news: There’s a totally new vaccine that will be available this month, and experts say you should get it, even if you already had the old one. - Barbara Brody

I've been thinking about doing away with the shingles and getting a metal roof.

I'm not quite to the 60 mark yet but due to some medical conditions, my doctor strongly suggested that I get one. The new shot(s) are actually done on two separate dates. 1st initial shot then approximately 2 or 3 months later the final one. That second one sure makes the arm sore for a few days. Be aware... it is possible that one can get shingles due to getting the first shot but if you don't get the shingles from that one, your safe on the second one since it can't cause it.

Never had the chicken pox, and not quite 60, so on my next appointment, I'll ask the Doc about it.

No thanks! I do not get or ever had a flu shot and you can keep the Shingles Vaccine too. I will take my chances going natural...

I got shingles about 6 years ago. It was a living hell. The pain, itching, not able to sleep. Wish I had been vaccinated.

I got a shingles shot several years ago and had no issues. I rarely ever have any adverse reaction to shots or medicine. I have a friend that got shingles and it wasn't diagnosed until it had evolved. The pain he dealt with was bad.

If my doctor advises me take the new one I will. I always get the flu shot. I have drivers from all over the country come to my class. I have one right now sitting about 6 feet away claiming he has allergies. Another has a stomach bug. Truck drivers don't care who they infect.

    So have I! At $60 a sheet it's expensive!
