    Thanks!
I pretty much chose to go with cataloged guns only, with a few exceptions. But this might be what you want for your 1895 and 1894's.

What you have is a 1895 with a ser# starting with a BO. Made in 1972. It is a little more sot after, 1st year of the new Model 1895.

Great stuff buddy. I was gonna sticky it in the Reference Library but see it already is.

One small correction, there was no 90 series for 2010. Remington continued to use the 91 series in 2010 until North Haven shut down and operations moved to Ilion and they implemented the MR series. Don't think there was an 89 either.

Double check with Tomray, KON, etc. but I'm pretty sure that is how it shook out.

Thanks again for putting this into such one-stop-shop document.

    Erik,
I believe you're correct. I don't recallever seeing 89 or 90 series Serial numbers..............but then, we were all "running around with our hair on fire" at that time too.........We (North Haven) transfered over to the Laser Etched S/N's in 2009, if I recall, and then there was talk from remington at that time that they wanted to stop using intelligent numbers..........but that didn't happen untill the MR got added......

Actually, no dating code is required to date the early Ilion rifles built on North Haven receivers................just examine them closely, and you'll arrive at the DOM.

The old one single sheet one, had the 90 and 89 ser# prefix. Back when I thought Marlin was going to be with us forever. And a had few production dates.

The new set of sheets at the beginning of this thread is now 3 pages long.
1 page for dating Marlin guns, including some of the MR stuff, plus some xtras. And the next 2 pages show production dates of every cataloged gun that Marlin made.
The one that is sticky-ed is the old one.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I do have a question. It shows Model 1891s continuing in small production numbers even after the turn of the Century. I thought the 91 was discontinued in 97? Does not show they made many but did they in fact make a few 91s at those later dates? Thanks
