    1946 model 36A

I purchased a 1946 model 36A and from what I have found so far is this rifle has a 24 inch barrel. The rifle I have has a 20 inch barrel and 3/4 mag tube. Does anyone know is this possible?

Sounds like a 1964-1967 39 Carbine. That is the only model with the short mag tube and came with a 20” tapered barrel also. Post some picks and also tell us what the first couple of serial numbers are.

I have a 1948 336 with a 36A barrel on it. It would not have been that hard to stamp a 3 on it.
My 1952 336 35 Rem is a SC and it has 20" barrel with the same mag as the A.
It could be that it was cut down by someone during it's life or maybe Marlin had a pile of 36A barrels and used them up wherever they could. Post war and some materials may not have been readily available.
I do not know if the tapers were the same or not.

Looks like a 24" in the picture. You measuring from the bolt face?

I have a 1949 and a 1951, the 51 is an SC and yes has the same barrel length and mad tube length as this one but this one has the square bolt. Here is a pict next to the 1949 336.
