    Mxlr/xlr

    can someone tell me why in the xlr series of guns some just have xlr and some have mxlr?? why are they not all either xlr or mxlr??.. just curious, was talking to a buddy and this topic came up.. thanks to all for their input...

    XLR's are standard calibers, like 30-30, 444 and the like... MXLR's are 308 Express and 338 Express... They are all in stainless... The MX is an acronym for Marlin eXpress...

    The M's are the Marlin Express calibers.

    I believe the 450 Marlin was categorized as a MXLR too.

    Agreed, but, the 450 Marlin blued model is the 1895M... When they introduced the stainless model they marked it 1895MXLR, without the space between the M and the XLR...
