    Sometimes

Brand spankin' new to this forum, I had to share a recent discovery.
A few years ago, retired the second time and trying to stay active, I was working in a local gun shop doing appraisals and helping the owner with some internet sales when a nice little Marlin Mountie walked in the door. I looked it over and gave the owner my idea of what it should retail for, what to give the seller and what room there might be in the purchase and sale price. The deal was made and the nice little Marlin went into the inventory. It hung on a rack for a couple of days and calling to me each time I walked by. I finally gave in and purchased the rifle. Had shot it after I bought it and knew it was a good one except for a weak ejector, but not really how good. Recently did a little research and found out that it was made very early in Mountie production. Serial number L28XX. And it doesn't have that funny word "Microgroove" on the barrel with the other stuff.
    Sometimes even a blind squirrel..........

Some additional information. My research indicates that this Mountie was made the first year after the change from the 24" barrel to the 20" barrel and that it is one of 64 made that year with Ballard rifling. If anybody has any other opinions or information, I would love to hear them or it.
