    Marlin XXX

I’ve stumbled across this XXX at my local shop. Looking in Brophy’s shows it as a first model with only 500 made. What do you all think? I can buy it but being a 30 rimfire I won’t ever be able to shoot it. Any thoughts on value?

30 rim-fire ammo was discontinued in 1919, but a very neat "pocket pistol". Value is what it is worth to you as your local shop knows there aren't many potential buyers.

First a question on the hinge point. Is it sloppy or tight when you tip the barrel open and wiggle the barrel? If the hinge point is solid, I'd say it's about a $250 pistol. If loose, I wouldn't go more than maybe $200. It appears the frame was once nickeled, and like many the nickel is almost all gone now. But still a pleasant looking unaltered pistol. If you're simply wanting it to fill a hole in the collection, and not to shoot, it's a decent example. If you're looking for a better example I'd hold out for one with all the nickel. But expect to pay a bunch more for a nicer one.
