    Locks??

What year did Marlin start including locks with their rifles? Was it just a trigger lock or a larger key lock? Thanks for any info.....

Ha! I have no idea what the answer is to that, but the question tickles me...

Last night I was rummaging through a kitchen cabinet and on the very top shelf I found a large old plastic container (looks like something a bunch of cheese-balls or some kind of cocktail bar food mix cam in). In the container were five locks from various guns, two of which bear brand names - Colt, Mossberg - while the others don't. Also found a padlock with "Ruger" on it.

It got me to thinkin', "How much do they add to the price of the firearm to cover the cost of these locks?" Made me laugh. Especially when I consider how many more of them I have stowed away in original boxes/cases, etc.

My question is, what can I do with them, 'cause they AIN'T going on any of my guns?

I also have a bunch of those locks stashed--except they are in a plastic tote. No chance of me ever using them. Most interesting one I have is a clamshell type that locks the lever in place on a lever gun. It came on a Henry rimfire from Cabela's. That also will not be used. I don't use the keys that come with some of the newer guns either (internal gun locks on Ruger, Rossi, Taurus, etc.). Guns are either loaded for concealed carry, or unloaded and stored in safe. No use for trigger locks.

They could be used as Christmas tree ornaments (maybe a bit heavy though)!
Imagine a tree covered with nothing but locks that say "Marlin", "Colt", "Marlin", "Ruger", "Marlin", "S&W", "Marlin", etc ...

Put a few of them on my table at the last gun show for $1 each in hopes people might need them for other than guns. Not a single one sold. Nobody wants them for any uses, even NIB.

Now that there is a good idea! Haha! Dang it! Now I wish I had more of 'em. Need to look around in those old boxes...
