I don’t have room in my safe for these guns and I’m afraid I’m going to put a mark on the wood or metal. I’ll probably get a friend that has his FFL put I I on GB when he gets back in town in a few weeks. I’ll put it in the classifieds here until then.

I put an ad in the classifieds here. I also have all the paperwork that came with the set including manuals and certificates. There is a handwritten memo of a talk he had with a Marlin rep about fixing or replacing the case. Very cool!

I added a bunch of pics to my “for sale” post. I’m curious to hear what the experts here value this set at. A set in 95% with case and papers sold in April on GB for $3400. I can’t find any blemishes at all on mine and I have all the paperwork and what is probably a replacement case from Marlin since my case is in excellent condition as well.

The last set I sold went for $2000 with original green lined case. That was about 5-6 yrs. ago. I saw your set for sale in Beaumont,Tx. and considered buying it at their asking price. But didn't want to restore the liner to the original green to resell it.

Well, I bought No. 202 set from Texmullet for $2500 & it is a VERY nice pair. Yes it has a red velvet liner instead of green, but also the paperwork that the factory changed it out (probably a good thing based on the history of the green lined cases!). Some other nice additions was a Guns & Ammo Aug. 1970 magazine that featured them on the cover with an article inside. Interesting that Frank Kenna put a "Lifetime Guarantee" on the set! There was also a Marlin 1970 catalog included. & owners manuals.
Interesting that they used extra strong "Proof Loads" at the factory back then.
Rickey ("Texmullet") was great to deal with.

    RHP,
Texmullet took these photos which covers them pretty good.
I'm glad that I get to be their next "Care Taker" for a few years!
