    NEW SCOPE AND LOADING TOOL

I picked up a SEARS 3X and it looks just like a K3 Weaver and a Marlin Firearms CO. loading tool in 38 S&W. Yawn, I know but it is in nice shape and it is the only one I have marked Marlin. What years did they make the IDEAL tools? Will post a picture this weekend. Later, moodyholler

    NEW SCOPE AND LOADING TOOL

If you could include a pic of the roll stamp on the scope, it would be much appreciated.

    NEW SCOPE AND LOADING TOOL

    Moodyholler,
Marlin bought Ideal in 1910, and when Marlin sold to Rockwell in 1916, Rockwell didn't want Ideal, so they sold it. Ideal tools marked Marlin Firearms Co. didn't get immediately marked, but they did immediately add Marlin to the boxes. The first Ideal boxes were overstamped with Marlin's name. Later they had Marlin's name, with "sucessor to Ideal" in small letters on the box.
Tools were the same. Some had both names early on, then later only Marlin's name.
It's neat to find Marlin Firearms marked Ideal tools, regardless of caliber! Sure, the unique calibers are even better, especially Marlin proprietary calibers, but I love to find any of them!
I've got 7-8 now with either Marlin or Ideal and Marlin markings on them. Always looking for any calibers I don't have, or boxes for the tools too!
