    Knife Sharpener

A friend turned me on to this. I have only sharpened one so far but it worked well.

I've bought and used something similar from a Butchery supplies business and haven't had good results from mine.

It's great that you are getting good results from yours.

If it works for you then it's good. I have a Lansky set and a ceramic stick setup and they work for me.
It's what you learn after you know it all that makes a difference.

There are a multitude of sharpeners on the market which attests to the difficulties folks have getting a good edge on a cutting tool. If you find one that works for you, stick with it. Honing on a leather strop after you get an acceptable edge will put the acceptable part to a newer level.

Me too.......The OP's pic of sharpener was sold on TV. Might work ok for a soft kitchen knife. But I doubt it would work on a hard bladed knife. The sharpener pictured would leave a "saw" edge on a blade..........Me ? Arkansas stones and a leather strop.

I generally use my Lansky for the knives. Axes/hawks/assorted tools just get the stone.

A friend uses a "Work Sharp" knife & tool sharpener and he loves it.

I use a sharping stone, but I'm probably going to order the "Work Sharp".

I thought so too but there are a lot of knives on the market that the steel in them is not capable of holding an edge. I fancy myself as pretty good with a stone. A wire edge is about all you can get on mystery stainless imports. On the flip side I've seen a lot of good knives ruined on power sharpeners. If you cant sharpen a knife on a stone you had better get a Lansky type set. Guys that have no concept of sharpening use them power outfits like pencil sharpeners.

I have one of these new fangled ones. It works great without ruining the blade of the knife.
