Regarding pigs, they move around a lot and can be gone for weeks. There is no guarantee you will see one even in areas with a lot hogs. Also, they are often nocturnal. We have lots of pigs where I hunt but I seldom see them. - T.S.

Here is an example of one of our "eating" size deer. You could stick a fork in the gravy, if you had a sharp fork.

TS them are some nice deer. I don't think what I got over here are that big.
I don't really hunt them hard though.
I'm mostly interested in a good eating size sow hog.
That and the squirrels. I like to hunt squirrels behind a terrier dog.
That was what I went to ask this guy about in the 1st place.

This is actually my son's first buck. He was hunting by himself and couldn't judge deer size very well at that time, so he shot this little guy. The buck made Boone & Crockett book for typical deer.

Hope your son gets a bigger one next time. I like those little ones though, they're tender.

That is an amazing whitetail!!! How long ago? Have y'all taken anymore like that? Private or public land? I have never seen one free range that big!

    I hope he's hanging on a wall!

I got this buck the next year within about 200 yards of where my son got his. I have also seen the twin to my son's deer, but no one ever killed him. These were on mother-in-law's farm, which has since sold. New owners do not allow any one to shoot the pretty deer.

That's a nice deer too! Too bad about losing the hunting over there. I am leasing some property for year-around hunting about an hour from Houston. I lucked into it through the friend of a friend. Been hunting there for a number of years now. I never expected to find the quality of bucks we have. The property has a tributary of the Trinity river on the back side. The deer travel along that small waterway. We are also very close to a national forest.

I may be the odd duck out, as I am in AR. We have access to about 300 acres that the land owner uses as a very limited deer lease. (about 5 hunters total) We have been on the property for 3 months trying to help get rid of some hogs. Land owner has provided just over a ton of corn (in sacks) a key to his gate and a key to his UTV. He bought horse panels for us to build a 30+ foot corral trap and supplied the t-posts. We have had pics of only 1 hog inside the corral trap, but did not trigger it. Camera card pull last night had a very nice 8 point in the trap, but did not trigger. We have pics of a sounder of up to 14 hogs at 2 feed sites over the past month. We have 4 guys coming from MO this weekend for a hunt. After that, the hogs will be hunted from blinds/stands, called with Convergent E-caller and hunted with thermals.
We are hoping to be able to show the landowner pics of a mess of dead hogs this weekend. That would go a long way in keeping us on the property. One of his deer hunters viewed pics of the sounder of hogs last night and just sat shaking his head. He has hunted the property for about 12 years and saw pics of a big boar on camera within minutes of pics of a big 12 point. This gentleman is the one that originally got us access to the property. He will be an advocate for us in efforts to be able to hunt/trap the property for the long haul.
