I've lived here (in Central Texas) all of my 48 years.
I'm very lucky. I can walk out my back door and head any direction,
and I have over 600 acres of prime bottom land that is teeming
with deer and hogs.
I recently sealed the deal on 60 acres of completely wooded swamp
land [for $300.00 a year] that I literally cannot put my foot down
in lots of places where there isn't a hog or deer track. I mainly
wanted that place for squirrel hunting. I own squirrel dogs.
So far I've found 3 natural flowing springs on it.
It's thick, hard hunting with few openings in it, but good for close
hunting if you like that. I wish I still bow hunted....may have to
get back into that.
Last week, my neighbor plowed a garden 100 feet from his house and the hogs
completely destroyed it in one night.
He works and lives on the ranch North of my place, which I have full access
I can literally hunt out from the window of my loading room right here if
I want to...I got a feeder in a little clearing out there.
