    2 hogs down

Here are a couple of pics from last weekend's hunt in Eastern OK. The first one took a round from the 336 in .35 Remington. He went down, flopped around, got back up and took off at a reduced pace. He then took a round from a .223 and went down for the count. This hog, along with 4 others, came in to calling from a Convergent Bullet bluetooth call using an app from Convergent with their hog calling sounds. It was quite a rush to watch the hogs come from about 200 yards where they crossed under a fence to about 100 yards where this one took his first round. There was no doubt that the hogs were coming directly to the call, which was set up about 20 yards behind us. Wind was perfect. Shots were not as perfect.

After dark, we went scouting with the thermals. My buddy took this one with a round of .223 to the noggin from about 40 yards.

About 250 lbs total on the hoof.

    Good shooting, Man.
I've heard about using a call but have never tried it.
I came out here to my little cabin out back a little before daylight, and
had two under the feeder when I looked with my NV.
But I let em go as I didn't want to deal with skinning one.
I'm going to look online to see what calls are available!

This is a link to the setup we use. You can actually download the basic app (does not include some of the sounds) free from APP store or Google Play. They can be played over any bluetooth speaker (played them through my truck stereo before), but are recommended through the "Bullet" speaker due to wider range of frequency than most small bluetooth speakers.

I wish I could. There were 3 of us shooting. While the other 2 guys shot at other hogs first, none of them fell. By the time this hog fell and the other 4 were out of sight, there was a small pile of brass (.35, .243 and.223) on the ground. There was 1 obvious bullet hole towards the back of the hog and his head was a bloody mess. We didn't take time to "autopsy" him, as we were stoked about getting into hogs on the new property. We knew there were more hogs on the property and it was getting closer to dark by the time we got to the hog and got focused. We switched to thermals and hunted for another hour or so after dark. When we got the hogs to the place where we skinned them, we didn't take the time to look for the forensics of who's bullet did what. Hopefully we get back out this weekend. While I really want to try my Henry Big Boy steel carbine in .44 magnum, I may take the .35 again if I can't get out before Saturday to sight in the scope I put on the Henry. I will try to pay closer attention to bullet performance if I am fortunate enough to drop another one. I was shooting Hornady LeverEvolution rounds in the .35.

Not yet. The other 2 guys went the following weekend, but saw nothing. Temps have dropped, so I'm curious if that might have impacted their movement. Land owner reported seeing pigs the last 2 days before buddies went back out. They talked to the land owner about using feeders and trail cameras to pattern the pigs. Since we drive over an hour to get there, it would be nice to increase the odds of having them show up consistently over a period of time and be able to know where to go to find them. Land owner is a bit iffy on using feeders, as he has a fair number of black bears on the property as well. His past experience with feeders has been that they attracted bears, which he would rather not have around his house or his cattle. Understandable -
