Went to Taylor & Co's Open House today.......

Taylor's and Co (big Uberti/Pietta importer) at Winchester, VA have an Open House every May where they put pretty much everything on sale. I went there today and picked up a conversion cylinder for my '76 ROA. The gunsmith there even fitted it to my revolver free of charge--just polished up the cylinder pin bushing front---and I was good to go. I saved 20 bucks by buying the cylinder today due to the sale. Taylor's also had a quick draw contest, a shooting gallery, and a fast draw trick shot artist on the site. The wife and I went to Patsy Cline's Museum after we left Taylor's as it was only a couple miles away. The Museum consists of the house that Patsy and her mother lived in during the 1940s and 1950s before later rocketing to fame in the C&W world. All-in-all, it was a great day!

Taylor's usually schedules the Open House for the second weekend in May every year. Lots of very nice stuff was on display but I couldn't get any decent pics--too many customers.

Sounds like fun. I didn't know Patsy Cline was from there or even had a museum. If I ever get up that way I will check it out.

The site consists of the original house as it was in the 1960s--the caretakers have tried to keep it original as possible. The state has put a historical marker out front due to Patsy Cline and the fact that the house dates back to the 1850s.

I tried to find out some info on Taylor's Colt-Burgess rifle for a MO member (actual bore size, what versions are currently being produced, if a SRC version was made--etc). Unfortunately Taylor's haven't had one in lately though its still listed in the catalog. I didn't get the chance to talk with the gunsmith about this in detail due to the crowd. I figured that getting there at 10 AM would allow me to beat the crowds--wrong!

I've been there twice. It's something to see.
Well worth the drive. My wife enjoyed Fredircksburg.
Luchenbach is just down the road as well.
The Texas Hill Country is just plain nice all the way around.
    Makes a nice vacation.
