The new Rossi 44 Spl.......My New Best Friend!

It took a month, but I finally got a hold of the guy selling it, and we closed the deal Saturday. I had Jury Duty until Wednesday afternoon, but the minute that judge said I was dismissed I headed for the range. I think I shot up every piece of loaded 44 Special ammo I had, I guess it's time to do some serious reloading! One of the loads I tried (and liked enough to repeat) was a full charge of Trail Boss, lots of buck and roar but not abusive to shoot unless you overdo it.......like I did. The grip is wider than some, spreading the recoil impulse over a wider area, and it's easy to hold onto, but i still got my knuckles rapped a few times, on both hands. In the interests of ease of shooting and long mechanical life, I'm going to keep my loads in the 800-900 fps range, which will do all that's needed anyway. I'd never seen one of these before, but for my money it's every bit as nice as the S&W 696's I've seen.

I have a feeling this gun is going to get shot a LOT!

Anybody notice anything wrong with the last picture?

Nice looking gun. I have a friend that packs a Rossi as well. From what I've heard they're nice pistols.

Nice pistol, I like the look of a stainless revolver.

Very cool! I've never seen one with a barrel that long. In fact, the one I did see was a Taurus. Not sure how much difference there actually is between the two?? It seems the guns I'm interested in from Taurus/Rossi are always after they've been discontinued.

I have a Rossi 38 4'' I have had it for 20 plus years.. I like it.. shoots great...

If I got this straight as I recall.. Taurus purchased Rossi.. The Rossi origional Family of owners still runs the plant.. They make the 38 and 357 revolvers for both company's .. and thats all that plant does..
The rest are made at Taurus plants other places.. Nothing wrong with any of them.. I have shot mine at timed fire knockdown steel plates and such in competiton and it works just great..

I have a pair of these, Rossi model 720. I had one many years ago, finally found it's replacement and within a week a second one came along at a bargain price and I grabbed it too.

They fit in leather for a 3" K frame. I won't go as far as to say they are as nice as a Smith, but they are nice little revolvers and just about perfect as a CHL revolver.

I shot it again Monday, and let several buddies try it, including a few pistoleros whose opinions I respect. Both said the trigger wasn't as crisp as a Smith, but it wasn't far behind. SA letoff is just a bit creepier than a good Smith, and DA isn't bad at all, very smooth and predictable.

As for leather, you're right, a holster for a 3" K-frame fits perfectly, and I already have several. I am a COMPLETE sucker for 3-inch guns, I think it's the best length for a general-purpose/daily carry weapon. This one hides just as well as my M-65, and once the trigger wears in a bit more, it'll be almost as smooth. It's a bit big for summertime carry, but right now it's perfect!

I have been toying with the notion of finding a .44 spl for ccw purposes. They are pretty rare round these parts.
ust because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get ya!!!
