    2019-20 Season: How was it?

Here's a quick synopsis of the season just ended. Started out killing a few doves in early September. Started squirrel hunting then (continued through January) - killed a bunch of foxes and grays with the 39A. Killed 3 deer with Marlin levers (2 with my Classic Model 1985 and one with my 1894C). Took 2 out-of-state bird trips and this year, for some reason, couldn't hit a ruffed grouse or a pheasant to save my life. (Rex, my German Shorthaired Pointer, may run away to find an owner that actually needs a retrieve after a point. )

    How did your season go?

Mine was great! After way too many years of having no place to hunt it was really nice to get out.
I got to dove hunt several times. Then got a nice 8 point white tail buck opening weekend with my newest Marlin 336.
My son got a pig and a buck in December.

Nice to have a freezer filled with good healthy meat.

I am relegated to public land in my area of Wisconsin. After the last couple of years of not even seeing a deer, I did not even by a hunting license for the last season.
This year, I will be doing my hunting in my future home state of South Carolina.

The Gene Pool is in need of a lot of Chlorine!

Better yet, drain the entire pool!

As the saying goes: "Hope springs eternal . . . " So, here's hoping for better hunting ahead in SC!

That is unfortunate you have not seen deer. I'm in SE WI and shot a deer on public land 10 minutes from my house. Ended up shooting 5 deer in 4 counties on both public and private. 3 with a bow, 2 with a gun. Don't give up, they are there. Maybe not in the spots they used to be, but they are still around!

Got two deer in November and had a good season---saw quite a few deer this past year. Took my son out hunting in late December during his visit but we weren't as lucky. We did get to hunt and spend time together in the woods which is what really matters.

Was an average year for me. I shot 5 deer, recovered 4, my son shot a young buck, first head shot. Went predator hunting a few times, no luck. Probably go after predator a few more times. Time to start thinking turkey.
