Thanks for adding that. I’ve seen a video or 2 from this fella before. Gotta love it when a guy just knows what works. He doesn’t need the ballistic charts he just knows what works for him.

His cartridge choices are spot on, and long barrelled rifles may be good for his hunting style, but not everyone wants to carry all that length. Given his choice of hunting rounds, a long barrel doesn't provide any real ballistic advantage. The 336A and the 1895 Cowboy are too long to be hauling around in the timber. Maybe he hunts from a stand, or opportunity hunts while traveling. His Marlins looked to be in excellent shape, like they don't get beat around in the woods much. Give me a short barrel carbine any day. I've been carrying small rifles, bolts and levers, since the beginning, in the 1960's.

What this country needs is a department of common sense! The tree of liberty would be a great place for hang mans ropes!

My 35 R is like his 35 and I like it. My 22 mag has a 24" barrel also and I like that. I used to do some still hunting in the woods, but prefer the longer barrels. To be very honest, I got into lever actins because I shoot left handed. When I don't wan tot play around and get very serious about shooting deer as in the last week of season, I go to a bolt action and like my 6.5CM for that use. I now have LH bolt and that easily could handle both the deer and coyote. Often thought I should quite messing around and get a 308 bolt action like my Ruger, but so far the 6.5 has done very well.

Good choice of rifles, and a nice truck to get him there and back.

To each their own. I have often wondered why anyone would make a lever action with a shorter barrel than 24". when these things were first sold, almost all were 26",but you could order 28,30,or 32 inches
