    New Zealand Gun Buy-back announced

Today the New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced a buy-back of all semi-automatic "Military style weapons".

She has been advised that this will cost (the NZ taxpayer) between 100 million and 200 million dollars.

I wonder what their payout is per weapon and how many will follow. Easy to make a simulated gun out of parts from Home Depot and people have done it before to make money, I would.

And her buy back/ban will eliminate any future mass shootings! This logic baffles me.

An "eco-terrorist" nut case kills 50 islamists in order to make some sort of deranged point. His choice of weapons - in his own words - was driven by his opinion that they should be banned in NZ (and in the US).

So the knee-jerk reaction is... to grant his wish. Seriously?

I'm not sure there is any hope at all for the people of the earth.
C'mon climate change, hurry up and kill us all.

Forced capitulation. They are giving the terrorist what he wanted because he killed people. That sets a bad precedent.

So, now any nut job will think he can do the same.

I am sure all the nutjobs, terrorists, mass murders and gang bangers will be the first in line to turn in their weapons.

In New Zealand only Gun Owners are required to be licenced; there is no registration of individual weapons. Ms Ardern has announced that there will be severe penalties for owners of semi-automatic weapons who do not surrender them during the "buy-back" period.

It begs the question of how many New Zealand shooters will hold on to their "Military style" rifles and how many will surrender them.

So, when the laws are changed all law abiding gun owners will surrender their weapons, whereas non-law abiding shooters will probably hang on to theirs.

With a stroke of the pen, NZ turned law-abiding citizens into criminals.
"Law-abiding gun owners" are now defined as those who give up their guns that were legal yesterday.

This only problem with this strategy: IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH!

As long as the law-abiding are punished for the actions of criminals, there will always be more crime.
And with each crime, more restrictions are placed on the law-abiding.
Eventually, everyone is a criminal... and the state is in complete control.
