Im reviving this thread .... I have taken several deer with a 16inch barrelled Rossi levergun chambering in 357 Mag ... I never recovered a bullet ... I used 158gr Golddot ... I killed one big bodied doe with a H&R single shot 357 maximum with a 180gr Gold dot..
The fellow I traded it to has taken several more whitetail with that rig ...

The 350 Legend will shine in a AR platform... home defense and hawg & whitetail hunting...
Im sure it will be chambered in a 16in barrelled , light boltgun .. The 350 L would be a great set up using a 180gr Gold dot , 180gr XTP and a 180gr or 200gr hardcast ... The 350 L will be a great treestand carbine .. hawg gun .. Black bear .. I think I'd be interested in a Ruger American with a compact stock and 16inch barrel .. 1.5 fixed power scope ...

With the introduction of the 450 BM ,300 BO ,223 & 7.62x39 .. Id like to think maybe Ruger would bring out a 30-30 ,35 Remington out in the Ruger American compact platform...

The 350 legend made a big splash when in was introduced but haven't heard anything about it since. Does anybody know what happened to it? Did it die before it ever got started?

AR Barrels are supposed to be delivered in May. Same with the Winchester rifles. So nothing is really available yet.......but it will be.

I reload these days so as long as there is a firearm platform to shoot, brass, and bullets--I am good. The FMJ ammo will turn off the hunters out there that buy the factory stuff. There will be other bullet types marketed according to Winchester's webpage.

I think it will be more popular to AR crowd than deer hunters. Maybe some sales to first time deer rifle buyers or for women & kids. In Ohio we have 3 shot limit so I don't know how many AR guys will go to the expense when deer will be its only use. The 350Win isn't a improvement it's just different. There's just so much you can do with a straight case. I don't see it making a big splash in this area. The young hunters are in love with Marlin 1895 guide guns and they are the AR crowd. No doubt it will kill deer but would be way down on my list. The state's that allow bottle neck cartridges won't be buying a lot of them. It is just about the minimum for deer.

Jay, when I picked up my new Henry Single Shot last week I noticed a Henry Long Ranger and had to check it out. Chambered in 308WIN it's a very nice rifle with a massive bolt, great trigger, and well put together. I really liked the balance and how smooth the cycling is.

With my 308MX I don't need another 30 cal and I certainly wouldn't entertain one in 6.5CM, nothing against the 6.5CM though. Even though I have my 338MX, I have to say if the Long Ranger were chambered in 338 FED, I'd probably pull he trigger on one. It's just a seriously nice rifle that would make a great hunting rig.

I saw one in 308 Win as well a few months back, Jack. Very nice rifle along with the Henry 410 lever shotgun that was in the racks next to it. If I didn't already have several Savage 99s---that rifle is definitely one I would buy.

Is Winchester going to roll out a mini-action boltgun for the 300 L ?
