I cast but don't have any moulds for my 45/70 and only 240 gr. 44 mag moulds for my 444. I'd like to know what you prefer and why. Thanks Rick

Cast performance 405 grain gas check mould from Ballisti-cast for the 45-70. Best mould quality out there. 100% top notch and worth every penny!

and Lyman's 4 cavity Kieth bullet for the 44.
I have not found a more accurate bullet in my 44 than the kieth bullet.

you could go to www.mountainmolds.com and design your own mold for a reasonable price.

I have a number of molds for my .45-70, ranging from 300 to 500 grain. Most are Ideals, but by chance my favorite is a Lee in 360 grain tumble lube design. It is a round nose flat point, and I lube them with liquid alox. They seem to shoot extremely well.

    Hi lantrad -

If you like 'em heavy, I've had great sucess w/Lee's #90376.
    Casts 510 w/my alloy - very accurate.

    regards,

    Curmudgeon,
Yes, I have that mold also. I use pretty soft alloys for my old guns, so it casts a bit heavier at my 40-1 mix.
