Thumbs up Paint Sprayers -well, they look a bit like guns

Any recommendations for a DIY paint sprayer to spray the exterior wood siding of my house? I've looked at Graco and Wagner but reviews (as always) are mixed. I'll need to use latex or acrylic, as I live in the Northland on a lake and the weather can be savage in winter.

    I have a budget of 200 -250 bucks.

    TIA

I bought a Graco unit for our log cabin.
When we used to brush the finish on it would only last about five years.
Well it's been eleven years now with the sprayed job, and I'll be doing it again this summer. So yes spraying is the way to go.
The Graco is definitely commercial grade and I can recommend it.
However, I didn't realize at the time that you can rent them, rather than buy, which for me would have been cheaper.
    Good luck with your project.

It cost $100+ a day to rent a sprayer.
If you need it for more than one day it might make sense to buy one.
    I bought a Graco X7 for $300.
As long as you clean it good and put the conditioner in it after use they last quite awhile.

I only use latex paint in mine.
Using acrylic paint can ruin them pretty fast if you don't clean them real good and it takes quite a bit of paint thinner to clean them properly.

I would think there will be some decent sales this weekend on them.

I have (had) a Wagner. I would not waste your time with them. They always seem to lose prime and then spit out paint like a two year old eating peas. The Wagner hand held models do not do well for painting horizontal surfaces (ceilings or floors). They work ok at best when painting a wall.
