Didn't see any other place to post this so since I want to do it myself with some help I thought this would be the best place. I need to get another phone and don't want to contract with a carrier so I'm hoping to pick up something used but looks like I'll have to get it unlocked or possibly do it myself. Right now I'm looking at an Iphone 6 that's on AT&T service. Any help will be appreciated.
I know there are phone repair places that say they can unlock them but I don't know what they charge. I would not buy one unless it was already unlocked myself.
When you say unlocked do you mean password protected that you don't have a password for? Or you want to change carrier's? If it's the carrier buy a straight talk sim kit .99¢ for your iPhone 6, there available to change from most carriers to straight talk (Walmart) which uses Verizon as a provider. If the phone itself is locked you can try a factory reset should be a reset button under the cover
I called the carrier that my iPhone was initially contracted with. Since I did not have a contract with them, they freed up the phone at one of their stores.
