    Before and After

I've shown a couple of rifles that I have rust blued in the past, thought I would share a couple of pictures of my current project, a 1952 Waffletop, started life as a 30-30 but will soon see a new start as a 38-55.

I like rust bluing, it finishes to a deep slate gray IMO and after it has set for a couple of days and is buffed it looks great. The only downside is this process can take up to five or six days to get the desired results. The high humidity right now helps with the rusting, then it needs to be submerged in boiling water for a few minutes, cool then hit with a carding brush.

Hope to have everything back together in a few weeks then I'll show off the completed project.

Very nice. I used the same procedure on a 336-44 src. It came out well.
