Well I'll break the ice On the 2013 Bull Snake Match!

Not good enough for submission but it's a target! Took the Winny 30-30 with my Custom Lee 170 gr PB mold loads and shot this target at 50 yards. It was quite windy so I just shot at 50 yards. Load is 170gr PB, Alox lube, over 8.0 gr Red Dot with filler , mixed cases, Rem 9.5 primers. Runnin about 1400 ish. Nice easy on the shoulder load. Also shot the Rossi 454 with 255gr PB's but I didn't get on target, sights set to low. But next time it will be right- had a nice tight group just off paper! Uped the charge in the 30-30 8.4 gr trying to flatten the curve just alittle.

I plan on entering this year, I just need the range time to put it all together.
Here's what I shot yesterday - I know it's not on the official target.

Looks promising! I think this years going to be a challenge up here. Seems like every other day we have 40 mph winds. Not condusive to good groups! What are you shooting? I'm using my Winny/Rossi at 50 yards, the Marlins will used at 100 yards- 336W and 1894.

    I am using my 308MX @ 100 yards. It wears a Redfield Revolution 3 - 9 x 40.
Loads are Hornady brass and 160gr FTX bullet, CCI 200 primer, and LVR.

I'm headed up again this weekend so hopefully I can get a windless day

I'm using cast bullets- I'm cheap! I went out today and was disappointed with the groups for both the 30-30 an 454 casull loads! I think I'm going to switch to my Lee 150 GC'd for the 30-30. Maybe go with a 45 LC load in the Rossi.

I shot the 150 gr GC out of the Winnie at 50 yards - shows alot of promise just didn't get a goood enough group. Also shot the 336W at 100 yards with some Lee 113 gr GC which again showed alot of promise. I didn't have the load data for those so I'm going to have to load some more and give them another try! Now if the shooter can get his act together !

Well, I finally had a chance to get out and shoot the 39 in hopes doing the scoped .22 match this year having done the open sights the last two. So after trying a couple different brands of ammo, I think I found the one the gun likes. Now, if I could hold steady and press the trigger like I preach to my kids, I'd be in business. So here's my sample. The holes are a lot smaller than everybody else's above, but it's a start.

    Nice group only one flyer.
Aint .22 ammo particular when it comes to a rifle, my 39a loves PMC Zappers which you cant buy here in AUstralia any more. I brought a case of them years back and still use them for competition at the range, other wise I use win pp's, although the groups are not as tight its ok for plinking cans etc.
I just took my usual scope off my marlin and put it on my new PWS t3 Summit and put a redfield 2-7x33 on the marlin and surprisingly I find it better to use than the bigger scope. Sighting it in the other day from the 25yrd line and using pmc ammo and cci standard both grouped extremely well, (small fingernail size). Have to see how it opens out next time I go out at the 50 line. Hopefully as good as your group still.

Thanks. I wish I could say that the flyer was the gun or ammo's fault, but I know better. I agree with you on the scope preference. I've noticed that I don't see the waivering and movement with the straight 6x, so I just feel better behind the rifle. I've actually switched over to the Leupold 6x's to three of the guns that I shoot the most, partly because I found myself forgetting to dial back to a lower power when I needed it most. Good luck and look forward to seeing your target. SM

Well I couple clicks left and you should be golden! Nice group! Unfortunately I don't have a lever in 22LR. But my old Springfield Semi still shoots groups like that even after a couple hundred thousand round down it!
