    Bull Snake has gone Postal!

I have dithered long enough, it's time to open the 2013 Postal Match and may the best Marlin Owner win. I looked over the rules and have no changes to what has worked in the past. We will use the same target as posted and the only change is where to send the bullet riddled shreds of paper so that I may attempt to measure the size of the grouping and figure out who has won. Anyway, where to reply to mail wise:
    Michael J Slaback
    PO Box 1561
    Rapid City, SD 57709-1561

Mail addressed to Bull Snake at the above PO Box will also end up in my hands. Let us end the festivities as before, last day of August and I will announce the winners some time before Christmas. Oh..alright, by Thanksgiving or sooner for those of you type A, anal retentive types. Shoot straight, observe the rules and by all means participate. With 40,000 plus members I should have a need to hire scoring staff, get on wit it.

Oustanding, count me in! With the limited availability of components I'll have to get more serious this year.

Well I've missed the last few years! So I guess I need to get back into the fight! Time to dust off the Winny's and the Marlin's maybe even the Rossi. Had the BRD for awhile. Been neglecting the Levers!

    Hi Bull Snake,

Would you consider having targets emailed to you?

    see this post https://www.marlinowners.com/forum/18...-40-shoot.html

having the tape measure on the target gives you a dimension reference and it doesn't matter about the scale of the target

...just a thought...I'm not against the 60 cents for a stamp either

I agree e-mailing them would be so much better! Or posting them here!

I'm in - my leverguns don't get to compete very often - thank you.
Probably since I am brand new here I'm not sure what target to use and/or where to find it, so can you straighten me out here?
Also a question; my daughter has a Savage M72, which is a single shot .22LR, but is lever operated.
Would it be OK to shoot it for fun?

    Thanks for hosting.

Go to the sticky "New Target" and the target is there. Be aware the names and addresses on the posted targets are not current. Find same in my post about this year being open. In the rules it defines a lever gun as one fed by a magazine so your daughters gun and a Ruger #1 would both not meet the critera. If she wants to shoot to see how well she can do, by all means, if she is doing well you will be obligated to buy her a 39 or a Henry so she can try her luck at embarassing the older players. I am shown up regularly by the high school kids on my Knowledge Bowl team, why not here also?

Guys I'll put my 2 cents in for emailing targets in. The problem is going to be scoring them. You really need the target in hand with calipers to score them. Sometimes you are splitting hairs scoring them and you really need the target not a picture of the target.

I agree with big medicine. Scoring targets correctly involves some precision measuring with proper tools and some math. I don't see how this can be done with a picture of some holes and a tape measure.

    Thanks.
It would be a M39, as I have one & she likes it, so.....
