    TC stocks over the years

I have quite a few Thompson Center Hawken's and for those who are interested, here are some pics of the changes over the years. The first change was going from one nose cap screw to two. Next the comb starts to lower, the pic with four stocks is the oldest is the closest, and the hardware starts to change. Notice the washer for the lock screw goes from a smaller inlaid diameter to a larger one outside of the stock. The barrel wedge plates went from a smooth flat surface to one with a slight increase in size and a groove around on it. One more note, the stocks got about 1/2" shorter from the oldest to a newer one. All of my stocks have only been cleaned, not polished. I leave the brass alone with its smooth patina, it looks older. I would have included the dates of changes but that info was lost in TC's fire years ago. Thanks for looking and I hope this helps any of you. Nice collection! (eye candy) Mine is for sure a newer one. 2 screws in the cap, raised washer, grooved wedge plate.

I know this is asking alot, I build my kit gun when I was pretty young not really knowing what it was suppose to look like. I could really use a pic of the other side of the stock (other side of pic 3) showing where the metal hammer plate meets the wood at the frt of the plate, and also looking at pic 3, I could use a pic of where the barrel and wood meet just like the first old rifle in that pic only of a newer one. I`m gonna re finish mine and make a few slight changes in the wood this time around.

Its nice to see I was in the ball park at least. Thats a huge shame all the info is gone. Best I can remember I built it in 1988-89
Heres the 2 areas I know are not quite right.

I have a bunch of them as well. a few I shoot, the rest I polish and look at, as I watch the values of them go through the roof.

I've got a New Englander with two barrels, 12Ga and 50 cal., but my only Hawken is a Cougar. I have had it quite a few years and not sure when it was made.

I always wanted the Hawken cougar. What a beautiful muzzleloader. I have a standard t/c hawken.

There is something special about shooting a side lock muzzle loader. Call it nostalgic or romantic, I don't care. I do have an inline 209X50 barrel for my Encore. I ordered it back when Fox Ridge Outfitters was still open. The difference between mine and most of your's is that I ordered it with the high gloss blue finish and a 1 in 48" twist. You can shoot conical and patched round ball through it. When it showed up, it was beautiful, put it on a frame and went out to the back yard. Put five rounds through it and it shot great, but it was lacking something so I cleaned it and put her away. I check it now and then, still looks fantastic, but it's not a side lock.

Love the TC Hawkens! Thanks for the info on the changes. I had four of them but one was a real beater and I parted it out. Still got the .50cal flint barrel off it though.
My first muzzleloader was a TC .50 Hawken percussion. Got it when I was 17 and still have it. I bought a second one which I converted to 54 cal. with a 32" Green Mountain barrel kit. The 3rd one is a Flintlock .50cal also with a 32" Green mountain barrel. The two GM barreled guns are pictured. My old one I got as a kid is buried in the back of the safe so no pic of that one. I also have a tang sight I may mount on one of them.
