    First Pheasants for Maverick

Today's walk was only about a mile and a half... But oh so fun!

Maverick's first pheasant hunt. He did well. I stacked the odds in his favor by hunting at the Cooke Canyon Hunt Club - so these are not wild birds. But we found eight pheasant, brought home five, and had a wonderful time. He hasn't had a lot of actual hunt training, but did a wonderful job of finding and pointing the birds, then retrieving them for me. He's not to blame for the pheasants that I didn't hit. Sigh...

I think we're going to have a wonderful time hunting together for many years. I sure hope so.

    Regards, Guy

That looks and sounds like fun. Being Florida born and raised I have never done any Pheasant hunting but have hunted quail behind a dog and they are fun to watch work. Maverick looks to be pretty proud of his birds.

Had a pointer in high school and hunted quail. Really had a good time, no quail where I'm at now just ducks and dove.

Beautiful pup! Looks like y’all had a ball. Sure wish I could go to Kansas or South Dakota on a week long hunt sometime. Been on my bucket list for years. Good luck with the pup, hope he turns out to be a dandy.
