    Pheasants today!

My son John, our ten year old German Wirehaired Pointer Clark, and I enjoyed a nice, relaxed hunt at the Cooke Canyon Hunt Club, near Ellensburg Washington this morning. Clark enjoyed the easy hunt as much as we did. He found the six birds, dutifully pointed each one, then retrieved each one. I bought hens this time. It's not a demanding hunt, just a fun one.

Clark pointing a hen between two bushes:

My son and Clark heading out after another bird:

John with a bird, and his nearly 50 year old 20 gauge Ithaca (SKB) double. That gun was a present to me from Dad back in 1969. It still looks good and works great!

Some old "guy" and his Browning 12 gauge, with a bird he might have hit. Unless the young fellow with the 20 gauge shot it first! I'll never tell...

Consider yourself lucky to have a fine son and a day that is shared between the two of you. A relationship and a day to be cherished.

    Guy.

Envy your pheasant hunting, especially with a good double barreled scattergun! On my short list of firearms I have sold and later regretted is a 16 gauge Stevens Model 311 side by side. Not bragging, but it seemed like I nearly always hit with that shotgun! Except on my first ever dove hunt. Those darting little speed demons cost me a half of a box of shells before I dropped my first one. But Iowa pheasants, that was another story.

Great pics, nice dog, and quality time with your son! Plus pheasant hunting! Yeah I envy you!

Hey Guy, that was great post with some great pics., good lookin dog.

And someone drug it up from the past with almost perfect timing.

There's about 14 of us about to meet next week for a couple days of that in Minn.
Pretty sure this will be a close second, as it will be friends from several states gettin back together.
