My vote is the 30-06, been getting the job done since 1906. Might not be the “sexy” or exotic choice but plenty enough gun to kill a black bear and has enough range for the longer shots. At the end of the day it’s your hunt use what you want as long as you are confident with the rifle.

Looks like you got it covered. Here in Ky. we are just now getting bear seasons, as a matter of fact this is only the second year in my county. I'm using a marlin 444SS this year which will be my first time hunting bears. You guys got some awesome country to hunt for bears! Here it's like one of the other gentlemen from WV and VA said it's thick and gnarly but I can't wait to try. In your case it looks to me like the best all around choice would be the 30.06 but in reality here in the U.S. it usually is hard to beat.

It looks like any of the rifles you have would do the job using the right ammo. Can't go wrong with a 375 H&H.

Man I'd love to have access to land like that. Here in central Ark. you don't need anything other than a good ol lever ! Your not going to be shooting over a 80 at best with a window through the underbrush. BUT since hypothetically shooting your spread I'd have to go with these. A) 260 Remington TGR22 w/ my 41 Mag SA. B) 308Win Ruger and same SA.

From time to time one should return to the river bank and squish the mud between your toe's...

I'm a big bore guy, so I'd say go with the classic: 375 H&H. What a beautiful Ruger No. 1 by the way! Is it a 1H Tropical?

Thanks. Yes it's the 1-H, the "tropical." I too think it's a good handling, good looking rifle. Shoots very nicely as well.
