Hi folks, and greetings from Canada. I'm about 2 days away from buying a 336 in 35 Rem, and I'm wondering which would be the best rear aperture sight to use. I'd like something like the DRC or XS, but want to be able to use the factory front sight. On my 1895CB and 1895Classic I use a Lyman #2 Tang Sight, so I could probably go the same route but I'd like to try something different. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

Such a capable rifle in most deer woods.
    I have a 1951 336A waffletop in .35 Remington coming soon. Can't wait.
I, too, have played with this caliber in the Model 141 and the early Model 8, but never in a lever. Have the Lee 200-grain boolit mold incoming as well.

You won't know if you can use your factory sight until you try one, unfortunately. I really like the aperture sight options from Skinner. I like the XS as well but have never had one come close to working with the factory front.

Dan, those Skinners get great reviews for strength and simplicity. I'd be reluctant to D&T an unmolested waffletop to accommodate one, but would sure look hard at one for the later 336 receivers.
I found an old steel Redfield for the 336-A.

I put a rear dovetail mount Skinner on a .22 rifle and love it. No d&t.
