It's terrible muggy here in SE Ohio. Had to run to town this AM for milk. Wife told me to pick her up something cool. I got milk and a cool looking pair of sunglasses. I got home and wife wasn't pleased, not what she had in mind I guess. Heat and humidity make them hard to get along with.

Nice looking country and nice Jeep. Why were you dragging the trailer along? Were you out camping with it? You said something about the trailer not having axles?

Thanks for sharing. Great pictures, and love the jeep and the trailer. I wish we had scenery as nice in Texas that was as easily accessible.

Nice rig for sure. What sling is that on the Marlin? I like the basket weave leather.

I just hadn't had the trailer out since last fall, and wanted a little shake-down run with it. Make sure everything was good to go. It is.

Ya, the suspension is Timbren, so there's no axle hanging down under the box & frame. The trailer has about 17" of ground clearance as a result, and only rides on 32" tires.

Umm, just a basketweave leather sling Dad gave me years ago. I don't know what brand. Sorry.

Dang! I think you got that photo of ol' Big Foot. Wow - I didn't know that he was a bird hunter!

About 20 years ago I had one of those early, ported 45/70 Guide Guns. Liked carrying it, but... I liked shooting the standard 22" 1895 better, so only kept the stubby Guide Gun a couple of years. Traded it off for a 22" model. Eventually sold that about 10 years ago, to my neighbor & friend. He won't sell it back so I finally went and got another one. This one is a Remlin, but it shoots great and functions very well. I've got that 2.5x Leupold set in quick-release rings. Pretty fond of the setup overall.

I'll stick with my old JM long tom. It may not be as slick a carry but I have yet to come across a 45/70 that will shoot better. That is the only reason gun is still in the rack. If they don't shoot they scoot. There are two guys in my club that pester me all the time wanting to trade me out of it. One offered me a Ruger #1 and the other said he would buy me the #1 and kick in $50. I have both a #1 & # 3 in 45/70 and neither will outshoot the Marlin. It's got to be all in the barrel because I've had several 1895s the same model and they did alright but they wouldn't outshoot the Rugers.
