New Remlin 444 and first time Triple 4 owner

    Hey folks,

New Triple 4 owner as this showed up in my mailbox this morning!

Apparently this is from the first shipment that came to Canada as I hadn't seen any until this batch. Along with the rifle, I ordered some Starline brass and it looks like some nice stuff! Purchased a set of used RCBS dies and have some Speer 270gr DCSP on the way to get me through this deer season, but I plan to shoot mainly cast through the rifle.

I'd never even handled a "Remlin" before, and I was a little leery of dropping a fair chunk of coin on one, but initial impressions have it ranked higher in fit and finish than a JM 30AS I owned a few years ago. I haven't found any sharp edges, cycles smooth (and I'm sure it's only going to get better), sights are on straight and overall, looks like a nice rifle.

My biggest beefs with it are the cross bolt safety (which is easily remedied) and the sights which appear entirely useable, I just prefer peeps on a thumper woods rifle. I'm looking into Skinner for sights

Obviously my entire opinion can be changed when the bullets arrive (come on Canada Post!) and it sprays bullets, but being at the mercy of CP right now...I can only speak of my initial thoughts.

This isn't meant to be a review of any kind, just sharing my exciting news of the day with like minded people!

No, it came from Prophet River Firearms. They were offering free shipping over Thanksgiving, had Starline brass in stock and they beat the lowest price I could find so as usual, were a good choice.

I guess I could amend my first post to saying I owned a 30AS 6 years ago

Welcome back from New Hampshire, USA. Nice looking rifle! Good luck on your first hunt with it, shouldn’t have any issues busting through any brush with that setup.
