Outstanding I found a Ballard rifled 444 marked JM!

Well a friend called me at the last minute to go to a gunshow and though I had chores I went anyway. Second row I found a Rifle version 444 in very good shape along with 46 factory Superperformance loads fronted with a rubber pointed bullet. Tag said $500 and I asked what he would give me in trade for the Marlin XS7 I had in hand. I took $250 for it though it was worth a bit more as I wanted this Lever gun. Got home a few minutes ago and used the 6 rounds to get the irons sighted in. Put the rear sigh on it's lowest setting and it hits 1 inch high at 50 yards giving me groups just over an inch for two shots. I was shooting off the side of my truck bed so I think it is shooting just fine. Been regretting selling my last 444 and am glad to have another. Now I need a set of dies, anyone have a set for sale?

Not yet it's the weekend and gotta get ready for the dove season opener! Would be cool if a hog accidently gave me a shot. Last year they actually contested us for the doves we shot and #8 shot hardly fazed them, didn't even run them off!

I'm thinking the 444 would do nicely on hogs. Should leave bacon hanging in the trees.

Does your rifle have the factory front sight?

Yes the front sight is stock. I plan to put a peep sight on it soon so I may have to get a taller one. I want a thick flat topped front sight.

I want a picture of a dead hog guilty of stealing my doves! None of us could believe that just out of sight in the mesquite trees were 4-5 hogs just waiting for a dove to hit the ground near them! And the four of us fired at least 2 boxes of shells apiece.
