    444 S, jamming when cycling

Have a 444 S, very nice conditioning, will not cycle when feeding from the tube mag, last time I tried to load rounds in the mag they got stuck before getting into the tube. Shoots fine when loading straight into the opened action,?
Beginning to think I waisted $700.
Any one knows of a cure, or a good place to take it. I am in the NM, TX, OK area. Thanks

What type of ammo are you using? Are they Hornady FTX rounds?

I don't know how old of rifle you have. If it is a JM and has sit around a while a good take down and cleaning may fix your problem. It sounds as your rounds are getting stuck in the magazine tube. If there is old sticky oil in there that will cause problems. When you reassemble and lube use a teflon based oil and oil lightly. The FTX ammo as stated above can also cause problems with the old style follower.
    Have a great day.

There a number of things it could be. The loading gate screw could need tightening, it could be the magazine, ammunition, the follower, lifter, the extractor, any number of other factors. You need to read the information and check each one until the culprit is found. Has any new parts been replaced like the lever? It does not sound like a major issue though, so be patient. You can do this. Good luck.

I have tried the FTX rounds, they jammed.
I bought Super formance Standard 444 length with 265 gr flap nose.
Still jammed, I reloaded 5 rounds in New RP brass, shoots great, but still jammed if you try the feed from the tube mag or loading the mag.
I removed and cleaned the bolt, lever and tube assembly, the gun is clean.
The lever screw was clearly removed a bunch as it is the only way to unjam the rifle.
    The rifle is a 1982 ,JM stamped, micro groove , I believe a 22" barrel .
    Thanks for everyone's reply.

Ok a 1982, a few more questions about cleaning. I’m assuming you have done this b4, if not there are great disassembly videos on you tube. Take everything apart, take out trigger group, take out loading gate, take the mag spring tube cap off and take the spring out with guide. Clean down the empty tube, clean trigger group throughly, clean loading gate and mounting groove. Use a pick to clean that groove, some use lock tight and it leaks into that groove making a mess. Pull the locking block and unscrew your lifter screw and remove for thorough cleaning, it can stick with rust where you can’t see. Make sure when you reassemble that the lifter “flopps” freely after you reattach!! Reassemble and try only Superformance! After that it’s timing and needs a smithy!

I had done just that, found that the tube follower was jammed up in the tube. I disassembled it, cleaned it again, then took great care reassembling it. I loaded two Super formance rounds in with no problem, then worked the lever, feeding each round flawlessly.
I repeated this 3 times with no jam.
It's the first time in 6 months since a owned it, that it performed like it should.
Thanks to all for your advice, hopefully it stays that way.
Will be loading up some new rounds this week.
    Regards.
