Some had 4+2 holes and some had 5+2 holes for the Porting.
Its pretty much widely accepted the manufacturing was 1999-2001 although there may have been some slight overlap.
    Nice find...Congrats !
I sold my entire gun collection a few years ago and slowly replacing things. My old 444P loved my loads using Hornady 300gr XTP's if I remember correctly.

From what I've read, the 444P was only made for 3-4 years, starting in 1999. Can someone more knowledgeable confirm the dates produced? Also, I'd be interested if any knows approximately how many were produced.

I'll start looking for an original front sight hood and screws to fill the D&T tap holes when I remove the scope mount/rings.

This will go nicely with my Savage 99 375 and Marlin Model 375.

Tomray might be able to tell you numbers made. PM him as he may be able to help.

Sounds like a great little rifle if one can call a 444 little. I agree with putting a Skinner peep and fire site on the front. On the hood, took mine off but buggered up carrying an elk quarter a few times, since replaced the hood that I modified with a cut trench on the top to increase light gathering on the fire site. I hunt dark timber and the visible fire sight is a lot easier to locate for me.

No one has a hard date for the end of production, or total production numbers.

The bigger question is: Why haven't I received a shipment notification yet?
All Outfitters are supposed to be shipped to me for safe-keeping.
FWIW, the Outfitters were still in the 2002 Catalog, but not in 2003's... and, FM, we're just hiding them from you...

If you plan to hunt with that beauty may I make a suggestion? Add a receiver sight from Skinner (or Williams, Precision, XS) and replace the whole front sight (ramp included) with Skinners Bear Buster. At the very least leave the hood in a drawer and replace the sight insert with a fiber optic or a blade from Skinner.
If you decide to remove the front sight and sight hood, please let me know. It was missing on mine when I bought it (second hand) and I want to return it to stock look.

While the sight hoods from a 336 and other models will fit, the original sight hood on the .444 Outfitter was more rectangular then round.
