    Team .444, can I join, can I, can I...

Hi to all. I'm a lurker of several years, seems like I'm missing too much fun by not being part of the crowd. My experience with the .444 goes back to late '60's when my dad gave me the 24" m/c stocked version he bought new, but never used. I put a Weaver 3X on pivot mounts on it, and took my first Blacktail with it ( nice 4X4, surprise!). A few years later the buttstock was broken by a wild-eyed, mean, charging beast ( my soon-to-be ex-wife ), who yanked it from the gun-rack and swung it down by the barrel, like a berserk Paul Bunyon. Marlin had no more replacement m/c stocks, so I had to use a 336 butt, but a few years ago I found another old .444 and bought it, so I could restore "Dad's" back to factory. Then, a few months ago, I bought off e-bay another correct butt, so now I've got twins!! In the interim, a .444P jointed the tribe.
Enough of me, teach me the secret handshake and initiation dance, and I'm all yours!!!

Well, ya know, I wasn't really planning to do this, esp. since the .45-70 was my first love in a big-bore. But I've grown right fond of the 444, too, once I got started on the big'uns.

Soooo, assuming you have room for a tired old man, I reckon I'll join Team 444, too, if nobody has any objections.

Gracias, Dawei! I even like the number, having been born in 1957. Makes it easy to remember! You know, I was just thinking. We're still pretty low in the numbers, but you guys oughta plan something special for whoever becomes member number 444 of Team 444. Kind of a milestone thing, ya know?

Sorry for the late response, I use the 'putor at work, and work graveyards. I lived for a long time outside of Matlock ( Mason Co ), Wa. I'm sure you are familiar with the area. Unfortunately, my house burned to the ground on my birthday, 1988, and I was unable to rebuild out there. Luckily, my .444 was in my locker at work; unluckily, a mini-14 and a few others were lost.
I think blacktails are #1. Neat animals!!
Thanks for admittance to the "team"!
