    Skywagon,

Great "first Hand" informational post.............Thanks for some good reading.

I envy you in Alasksa with the great resources for hunting and fishing and hiking. I hope to visit your state next year when my wife retires.

I was the Marlin Engineer that released the XLR rifle line. I am also a 444 fan, but usually hunt VT with a 35 Rem or 356 Win (ER)...........

How is your XLR handling the Alaskan weather?.........I'm curious from an engineering perspective............

Welcome to Marlin Owners, and Thanks again for a factual post.

I don't know, drop the hammer on one of those 444SG's with a top load and a bullet that weights over 350 grains, and I do believe you'll be Flatlined
rooterpig and Flat Top like this.

Their are only two kinds of people, those who own a 444 and those who wish they owned one, and yes folks, denial is bliss!

Not much has really changed in the world in 2000 years, Christians are still being thrown to the Lions! and Satan's tool of Deception is still working like a charm, from the time of Adam and Eve, to today!

Good report. Like many others here, I'd like to get a big bear. I wouldn't hesitate to use my 444 XLR.
I have carried mine in grizzly country here in Wyoming. I'll continue to do so.
Tomray I have said it before that this is the nicest rifle I own, bolt or lever.

The Marlin 444 XLR is a great rifle. It is my favorite hunting rifle. I believe that the rifle is very well engineered, and has served me well in the wilderness of Alaska.

Skywagon, Great read welcome to the forum. I fell in love with the 444 five years ago and never looked back. My 444s became my go to rifle, it was over taken by my 444P last year. Can't do better than a 444. I plain to take my to Canada in three years after a bear.
